After many years of research on three continents, Lola Wilkins, the Australian War Memorial's curator of Stella Bowen: art, love and war, toyed with calling the exhibition "Looking for Stella". Many of her paintings remain undiscovered. Until recently, few knew her name or were familiar with any of her works. Now a new exhibition will tour Australia and put Bowen's important work in context.
